BBC Streams

Having discovered after 4 months of living here that Radio reception is terrible for Radio 4, I have decide to investigate streaming radio to see it that is better.

Radio Tray

Radio Tray is an online radio streaming player written in Python. Documentation for Radio Tray can be found on GitHub, and the source code is at: Bitbucket

The application is dependant on:

port:fred ~> pkg_info|grep gstreamer-
gstreamer-0.10.36p6 framework for streaming media
gstreamer-ffmpeg-0.10.13p8 ffmpeg element for GStreamer
gstreamer-plugins-bad-0.10.23p16 bad elements for GStreamer
gstreamer-plugins-base-0.10.36p11 base elements for GStreamer
gstreamer-plugins-good-0.10.31p12v0 good elements for GStreamer
gstreamer-plugins-ugly-0.10.19p4 ugly elements for GStreamer
py-gstreamer-0.10.22p4 Python bindings for GStreamer
I was missing the gstreamer-plugins-bad which was stopping me listening to BBC Radio 4.

Ag

Installed The Silver Seacher and gave it ago and it is quicker than ack [1] When I discovered ack, I also looked into Ag which has a focus on speed

0m0.46s real 0m0.25s user 0m0.22s system
for ag -g html compared with
0m1.69s real 0m0.83s user 0m0.56s system
for ack -g html in my home directory - far too many html files!
